Hyunmin has been an absolutely fantastic apprentice working with both ATC and BBG brands and teams. Her dedication to knocking all design tasks out of the park, while at the same time asking in-depth questions about how our businesses run has been truly inspiring. I can see how much she cares and values conversation and critique.

I am proud and happy to have had the opportunity to work at Avondale Type Co. My apprenticeship here has been a great experience, and I want to start by expressing my gratitude to Jason, the Creative Director. Jason genuinely cared about my growth and development. He continuously provided me with new and diverse tasks and projects. I never felt like just an intern but rather a valued designer and part of the team. Thank you, Jason, for believing in my abilities and giving me the chance to contribute.
I also want to thank Christian for the valuable feedback he provided. His insights helped me refine my work and grow as a designer. Dan and Lyndsey, your support and bright energy were uplifting and made every morning meeting a positive experience.
Throughout my time at Avondale Type Co., I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of design projects. I was involved in creating content for social media, making visually engaging emails, working on client interactions, and contribute to web design and branding. Each project had its own set of challenges and learning experiences, that provided important insights into the professional world.
One of the most valuable aspects of this apprenticeship was the chance to gain real-world experience outside of the academic environment. At school, we primarily design for ourselves with projects that reflect our personal style and preferences. However, in the real world, design is about understanding and meeting the needs of clients. This apprenticeship gave me a deeper understanding of how to approach design with the end-user in mind, balancing creativity with practicality and client objectives.
My time at Avondale Type Co. has been a valuable journey of learning and growth. I am extremely thankful for the mentorship, the hands-on experience, and the warm, collaborative environment that made my first apprenticeship in the design world so special.
