“It’s day 1 and Sarah is super cool, so we have that going right out the gate. Now to the hard stuff.”
Jason Schwartz, Creative Director

What do you hope to gain from your apprenticeship with BBG?
I came into this opportunity with a completely open mind and a deep desire to learn. I want to soak up as much knowledge and experience as I can from the best in the industry and use it to become the best designer I can be. The team at BBG is the epitome of excellence.
What are your favorite things about design?
Throughout design school, we are taught how design is a way of life. I’ve taken that lesson and applied it to everything, and I love to challenge myself to see how I can apply design to pretty much every aspect of my life. Design offers so much freedom and creativity, and can make mundane things so much more exciting.
Which skills do you hope to learn or shape up on?

I am excited to work more in the digital design space. I’ve skimmed the surface of web design in the past, but have mostly worked on projects revolving around branding and type exploration. I’m ready to fully immerse myself in the process and learn as much as possible.
What are your current design inspirations?
Koto Studio, IDEO’s design thinking, Paul Rand, and Jon Contino. I especially appreciate how IDEO approaches each project differently, tailoring their process to who and what they are working with.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love to play around with illustration, hand lettering, baking, and sculpting clay miniatures. I recently tried linocut for the first time and I loved it, so I plan to do some more of that.
What made you choose to pursue design?
Growing up, I thought I would never be able to have a desk job. Now I realize what I meant was that I need something where I can allow myself to be creative and throw myself into hands-on problem solving. I find the process of immersive design research captivating and exciting, and love the collaborative nature of graphic design.
What is your go-to album to listen to while working?
Fauxllennium (Japanese Deluxe Edition) by TV Girl and George Clanton.
Favorite thing to bake?
Pretzels! Reminds me of going to the mall as a kid.
